FOCLA Provides Support to AWAY

The Friends of Coal Ladies Auxiliary is proud to support AWAY: Advocating a Way for Adults and Youth program formally known as the Women’s Resource Center.  AWAY is a private, non-profit agency that provides temporary emergency shelter, counseling, crisis intervention, advocacy and other support services for victims, survivors and witnesses of domestic violence and sexual violence.  According to AWAY, many of the residents of the shelters had to leave their homes with “nothing but the clothing on their backs”.  The FOCLA wanted to do their part to make a difference and support these individuals in their time of need by donating 50 wash cloths, 13 leggings, 196 diapers, 40 bottles of shampoo and conditioner, 100 bath towels, 48 boxes of wipes and 40 hairbrushes. Ms. Regina Thomas with AWAY stopped by the FOCLA office to accept the donations. AWAY services and supports are available 24/7 by calling their Hotline at 304-255-2559.  The FOCLA is a non-profit organization that seeks to inform of the importance of coal and provide supports to coal miners and their families. The FOCLA is committed to supporting charities that provide critical services to the community like the AWAY program.  To learn more about the FOCLA please go to our website at www.friendsofcoalladies.com or email us atfocla.info@gmail.com.
