FOCLA partners with AWAY

The Friends of Coal Ladies Auxiliary is proud to support AWAY: Advocating a Way for Adults and Youth program formally known as the Women’s Resource Center.  AWAY is a private, non-profit agency that provides temporary emergency shelter, counseling, crisis intervention, advocacy and other support services for victims, survivors, and witnesses of domestic and sexual violence.  Many residents of the AWAY shelters leave home with “nothing but the clothing on their backs”.  AWAY shared the beds at the shelter needed some updating.  The FOC Ladies Auxiliary stepped up to assist their AWAY partners by donating approximately $1300 in bedding supplies for up to 40 beds.  Donations included comforter sets, sheet sets, pillows, quilts, pillow shams, and throw blankets. The Ladies Auxiliary also donated baby clothing for mothers and babies in need that arrive at the shelter.  Ms. Reginia Thomas, AWAY Executive Director stopped by the FOCLA office to accept these much-needed gifts. FOCLA remains committed to supporting charities like AWAY that provide critical services to the community.  To learn more about the FOCLA please go to our website at www.friendsofcoalladies.com or email us at focla.info@gmail.com.  AWAY services and supports are available 24/7 by calling the Hotline at 304-255-2559.
